Online guitar & ukulele lessons

benefits vs drawbacks
The rapid development of modern technologies compels me, a contemporary individual and teacher, to stay abreast of the times. Recording lessons on video, utilizing electronic notes, and maintaining my small blog in the educational process are the trends for a modern teacher. We use the Internet every day, and so do our children. Therefore, why not harness the power of the Internet to serve both art and education? — I resolved this issue for myself a long time ago, and now I've been teaching online for seven years. Today, I'm going to share my experience with remote work.

Let's discuss the pros and cons of online music studying, starting with the cons

    1. Online studying may not be suitable for every parent and student. If that's the case, you may not be ready for it. Here's an example: I decided to discontinue online gymnastics classes for my 9-year-old child during the COVID-19 lockdown because it was simply too dangerous. On the flip side, we actively engage in online learning for languages, mathematics, and drawing
    2. No physical contact is a significant aspect. While many instrumental music teachers consider touch to be an essential instructional tool (for example, teachers place students' fingers on the keyboard or guitar to demonstrate the right playing position), some parents and students prefer not to have physical contact with a teacher. Based on my experience, I'm confident that everything can be explained verbally, both in an offline studio and from thousands of miles away
    3. There are no teacher annotations on the music sheets. The programs I use have features that allow you to ditch the pencil and find joy in using tools like Photoshop or Paint, for example.
    4. Lack of traditional concert experience. But there are live broadcasts on Instagram, Tik Tok, YouTube, where you are listened to and seen by from one to millions of listeners.
    5. You must have high-quality equipment: camera and sound. Yes, it is important. Times have changed; previously, a chair and a music rack were sufficient in the music class, but now you need a camera and a microphone.

      Well, what are the pros?

      1. Time saving. Just turn the computer on and you're ready for the lesson.
      2. No location dependency. Isn't it a miracle to be at a lesson in the mountains or on the seashore? Also, it gives a great opportunity to find a professional teacher wherever you are.
      3. The opportunity to find a teacher of any skill level at an affordable price.
      4. The ability to record a lesson and review it many times after class increases the effectiveness of the lesson.
      5. Teacher feedback is available 24/7
      6. Relatives are not waiting outside the door. Many people are familiar with the situation from childhood when an older brother or sister, grandmother, or one of the parents, leaving their work, brings the child to class and is forced to wait for an hour, or even two. Online classes eliminate such inconveniences.
      7. The student is less distracted. Many students find it easier to focus on class when they are in their familiar environment

And finally, the most important thing is to have a passion for studying.
Where the heart is willing, it will find a thousand ways; where it is willing, it will find a thousand excuses.
